EDTA

Ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid, a chelating agent that forms stable chelation complexes with metal ions. Also called versene, sequestrol and sequestrene. It can be used both to remove metal ions from a solution (or at least to remove them from activity) and also to add metal ions, for example in plantfertilisers (E-385).
