• Aluminum foil

  If aluminum prepared in thin sheets with a thickness less than 0.2 mm / 0.008 in, although much thinner gauges down to 0.006 mm are commonly used. Aluminum foils thicker than 0.025 mm (0.001 in) are impermeable to oxygen and water.

          Uses

1. Packaging:- As aluminum foil acts as a complete barrierto light and oxygen odors and flavors, moisture, and bacteria, it is used extensively in food and pharmaceutical packaging. Aluminum foil is used to make long life packs for drinks and dairy products which enable storage without refrigeration. Aluminum foil laminates are also used to package many other oxygen or moisture sensitive foods, in the form of pouches, sachets and tubes, and as tamper evident closures. Aluminum foil containers and trays are used to bake pies andto pack takeaway meals, ready snacks and long life pet foods.
2. Other uses:- Insulation,Art and decoration, Geochemical sampling, polishing steel, cooking 

• Plastic wrap

  Plastic wrap is a thin plastic filmtypically used for sealing food items in containers to keep them fresh. Plastic wrap, typically sold on rolls in boxes with a cutting edge, clings to many smooth surfaces and can thus remain tight over the opening of a container with no adhesive or other devices. Common plastic wrap is roughly 0.01 mm thick.

Materials used

   Plastic wrap was first made from PVC, which remains the most common material, but non-PVC alternatives are now being sold because of concerns about the risk in transfer of plasticizers from PVC into food. Indeed, it is problematic to achieve full polymerization of the material, which could contain remains of the vinyl chloride monomer
